How should we remember Grenfell?

More recently the focus has shifted to the question: How should we remember Grenfell? What is the legacy, what have we learnt?

Following the tragic events, the Grenfell Tower Memorial Commission was created. Their objective was to bring into focus a truly community-led vision for a fitting memorial, to commemorate those who lost their lives and those whose lives were forever changed on that terrible night. We began this process in September 2019.

They worked closely with the Grenfell community – the bereaved families, survivors, Lancaster West Estate residents and the immediate community who lived in close proximity to Grenfell Tower. And they sought to understand their hopes and wishes for a future memorial. The following document is their 2023 report
